should i just use boiling water then rinse in cold water or warm water? or something close to it?
and then i read in other places to oil the knife but what does that mean? to coat the whole knife with oil or to just coat the hinges. or something else? and with whaT? something like a brush or q-tips?
thank youHow do i wash/oil my pocket knife?
At work we have an unltrasonic cleaner that works great to get into all the little nooks and crannies. Then I just add a tiny drop of light machine oil to the hinged parts (3-in-1 would do).
I'm assuming this Gerber is stainless steel? If you don't have access to the U/S, soak in soapy dishwater, and then work the individual tools to loosen the buried debris. dry in the sun, oil as mentioned above. How do i wash/oil my pocket knife?
use gun oil. i clean mine with 0000 steel wool and a little acetone then oil with hoppes gun oil. (acetone leaves NO residue) use a toothpick for oiling
I just use soap and water on my Gerber. Opening and closing all blades and utensils while working in the soap and again when rinsing. Never had to oil a Gerber, even after that treatment, but you could get some 3in1 oil and just put a drop on the hinge of each utensil and work it in by opening and closing the utensil many times. Do not use WD40, it will eat whatever lubrication you already do have.
