Neutrogena oil free acne wash causes breakouts?

Every time I use it, I tend to get more breakouts than usual, and I have hardly gotten much acne at all on my face. I use it for it's cleanser since my face tends to be oily, but I don't want to use it anymore because my face looks ugly with those pimples. Is it just because my skin isn't used to it? Should I keep using it? I have never moisturized or done anything to my face. What else would you recommend to reduce oily skin?Neutrogena oil free acne wash causes breakouts?
Does it make you constantly breakout or do you use it and breakout then change your face wash and when you go back to it your skin breaks out?

If it makes you have pimples when you just start using it its because its bringing all the dirt and oil out so it can get rid of it.

But if it constantly makes you break out you should talk to a dermatologist.

another thing to help keep your skin clear is eating right, drinking lots of water, wearing sunscreen and a hat and sunnies and NEVER putting your hands on your face.

good luck.Neutrogena oil free acne wash causes breakouts?
I personally do not like using Neutrogena since it is so harsh on the skin. I used it before, and my acne seems to worsen, but each product is different for each person. My sister uses aspirin as an exfoliate, and it works for her. I use...

- Body Shop's Blue Corn (Deep Cleansing Mask) exfoliate to clean my pores.

- Body Shop's Tea Tree oil to control my oily skin and blemishes

- Body Shop's toner for a deeper cleanse after the facial wash.

- Tea Tree Oil Mattifying Moisturizer

I use the line of tea tree products at the Body Shop and it works well for me. If you don't feel like spending so much money on multiple products, just get the Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash. Many uses it, and this product is one of their best selling product.

Ask the salesperson there. They can further assist you. Good Luck!

How well does Neutragina Oil Free Acne Wash work?

I'm wondering cause I just got it, and I was curious if it actually got rid of acne fastHow well does Neutragina Oil Free Acne Wash work?
its realllllly drying, even with moisturiser. dont likeHow well does Neutragina Oil Free Acne Wash work?
It didnt do much for me.

It just made my skin feel dry and tight.

I dont really bother buying expensive skin products, do the the fact that they work the same as most regular costing products.

I've been using clean%26amp;clear soft steam scrub %26amp; clean%26amp;clear soft day moisturizer.

They work great together, and I saw results with it immediately.

Of course it didnt remove some of my blemishes immediately, but my skin was brighter and softer after the first scrub.
Your best option would be to go to the store and get some Dr. Bronners tea tree castile soap. It will save you money, since a little goes a long way. there are many things that are good for acne, but to keep it simple use emu oil and tea tree oil after toning.
one word, bad. I've been using it for 2 months now, absolutely no change. It's not like i've been using it wrong, i've followed the directions washed my face with it twice a day and nothing! Plus I bought all the spot treatments etc. and still no improvements :( Whatever you do, if you use the acne treatment moisturise a lot! I used it for the first time at night and by the next morning my skin was peeling, and I have oily skin! Not dry at all. All the stuff is VERY drying, so if you are going to use it invest in a good moisturiser.
Neutragina is SH1T. Seriously, it's cheap and leaves a residue on your face that actually GIVES me acne. Don't try it.
depends on your skin type, but it works for me!

How to wash away oil stain on the whilte cloth?

plz help that one is specialHow to wash away oil stain on the whilte cloth?
Rub some corn meal on the spot after blotting it.Brush it off after a few mts. and then apply prewash stain remover, rinse. Wash in hot water.

Another surprising tip for oil stains, is good old shampoo! Just rub the shampoo on the spot with a soft brush. Let sit for a few minutes and then wash in hot or warm water.

For an old butter or oil stain, regenerate the stain first with WD-40, then rub in some undiluted dish detergent. Wash as usual. How to wash away oil stain on the whilte cloth?
If you can you could try bleaching it for a couple of hours and then washing it... or try something called Krud Kutter... that took grease stains out of my white tee without letting it sit so that could work...
rember that goop that men gets their heands clean with after working on a car.

try that and it will work

i did it to for someone and with things i had and it really works

try that and see.

good luck
Try Gojo or any good waterless hand cleaner. Rub it into the stain well and then rinse with tepid water. May have to do this several times.
Dish soap helps, Dawn always got out those tough stains.
GET A DEAGREASER THEN ';BIZ';....LET SOAK IN COLD WATER. THOGH YOU FAILED TO METION WHAT KIND OF GREASE.MY ANSWER STANDS ~

Thank You
If you are talking about removing animal fat from a fabric, its a secret of the dry cleaning industry. But I will let you in on their little secret, sprinkle salt on the stain rub it well with your fingers, let sit for several minutes and clean the fabric per instructions. I think there is a time limit on how soon you should apply salt to a fat stain, you might be over the limit.
You need a strong degreaser like Dawn or Tide. Pour directly on stain and let it sit for a wahil an wash in hot water. Murphy's Oil Soap works very well also.
When my son worked at mcdonalds I always used Cascade (dissolved) to cut the greasy. It's made to elimate protein (grease is a protein)and it always completely cleaned all of his greasy clothing.
Pre-soak and add a quarter cup of white vinegar.

If that does not work, try Oxi-Clean. I think that's the name of it. You can get it at the supermarket. It's a powder, so pre-soak it in that.
You didn't say what kind of oil or what kind of fabric. That could make a difference. The last time I got motor oil on clothing, I had to have it drycleaned. Nothing I had in the house would budge those stains, but the cleaner got them all. For cooking oil, straight dish detergent or laundry detergent works some times. When that doesn't work, I get pretty good results with a stain remover such as Shout. If the fabric is cotton, you can just keep trying until something works. If it is silk and special, you may want to go straight to the drycleaner. Good luck.
use w d 40 spray on the stain and rub then put soap on and lather up and rub then wash it should get out the oil.. it does work sound crazy but you need to losen up the oil or grease with grease
bleach
try some pine sol or lysol. it do work
oxyclean should do the job
per Martha Stewart -

Stain Stick: An enzyme-based cleaner available at grocery and discount stores. Most effective on food, grease, oil, protein, and dirt-based stains and can be used on any fabric and color. It can remain on fabric for up to one week. I found the Carbona庐 products to be the best at removing specific stains, especially rust.

  • How do i apply tea tree oil acne wash onto my face?

i drink tea everyday with 3 spoons of sugar, wud that not help my acneHow do i apply tea tree oil acne wash onto my face?
Well, while I do not want to burst your bubble as it is obvious you think that just applying a tea tree oil aacne wash can get rid of the acne, it is possible that it might not work just because you are attacking the acne from the wrong angle.

Acne more often than not is not just a physical disorder that you just ';wash off';. It is better if you treat the root cause completely. As hard as this may sound, it is better to take your time treating it by really dealing with the root cause so you have an acne free skin for a longer perid of time. Now, I could easily recommend an effective face wash. But as I am sure you are aware now, that the ';magic face wash'; may not just be available.

So, why not find a working regimen. I got a combination of effective tips from a priceless report -The Ultimate Guide to Acne Cure- that is amazingly free. I used all the tips there and I was really stupefied at the results. In just 7 days, I was able to totally get rid of my acne using the recommended tips in that report. You can get your own copy at http://howtobeacnefreein3days.blogspot.com.

I hope this helps. Looking to hear from you after a clearing your acne.

Best way to wash coveralls full of oil?

I have 3 pairs that I need to wash. They all have oil(90 weight) on them. How do i wash and dry them without stinking up the house? Will they ruin my washer/dryer? Will the heat in the dryer do anything to the oil in the fabric?Best way to wash coveralls full of oil?
I am not sure of what to use for soap, but to avoid fouling your clothes washing machines I would take them to a commercial laundry. For a minimal price (compared to a new washer and dryer) you can minimize your risk and still wash them. If I were you I would soak them with a petroleum product such as gojo. Industrial cleaning products such as that are meant to remove oils and should be able to take the oil right out of the fabric. If I were you I would:

    1) Rub the gojo into the dry, oily fabric

    2) let it soak for about 10 hours

    3) Wash the coveralls until the gojo is washed out (this may take a few loads)

4)dry.Best way to wash coveralls full of oil?
Alright. My husband works i nthe oilfield and I have to deal with this al lthe time. Lay the coveralls out and rub or brush some Dawn dish soap (apple scented is great). then wash them with a little more dish soap and some Pine Sol or Fabuloso (apple scented to match the doap). You may want to also ad some baking soda to the wash too. If you have a front load washer then use less product. Make sure that all is out before you dry. Don't use any fabric softener because it can weaken the fabric and takes away the fire protection on them.
Have them dry cleaned, that will remove the oil. Then, wash them to get the dirt out. (I have dry cleaned racing coveralls.)

Has anyone had any problems using Neutrogena oil free acne wash?

Has it burned your skin or caused irritaion or had an allergic reaction?Has anyone had any problems using Neutrogena oil free acne wash?
That product, like most products for acne, has salicylic acid in it. They put salicylic acid in them because it can dissolve the substance that clogs pores. It also dries out your skin, and can cause redness, peeling, and flaking. Most acne washes have 2% salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is used in higher concentrations to remove warts.

If this is what your problem is, try using it less often, or use it with a moisturizer, or both.

If you have a bad reaction from it, stop using it, at least until it heals.

There are other things that can clean out your pores, but salicylic acid is the easiest to use.

If you have had an allergic reaction, which would be more immediate and itchy, do not use this product again.Has anyone had any problems using Neutrogena oil free acne wash?
no i haven't but u might if u have had any problem with other acne washers that have the same ingredients
Not tried it if you have oily skin and acne try this remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

yea i use the foaming face wash, i dont use medications but it really cleared up my skin(i have combo skin type)Does washing your face with Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash twice a day really help along with medications?
Speaking from experience: yes. My face has been very clear and smooth for a long time. It's the only cleanser I use. I use that and a benzoyl cream at night (only on my chin cuz that's where I break out once in a while). Don't forget to exfoliate and moisturize!
I've been using it for a few weeks without anything else and it has done wonders for my acne

I just bought some neutrogena oil removing face wash but I don't want to loose the tan on my face?

Does this face wash remove the tan?I just bought some neutrogena oil removing face wash but I don't want to loose the tan on my face?
The oil on your face will naturally make your face look darker. Just like hair looks darker when it is wet, the same way skin too looks a lit darker when it has some water or oil on it. So after you wash your face with this oil removing cream, for a few hours your face will look cleaner and whiter.

I just thought I would let you know that people with oily skin are actually lucky. It helps the skin remain supple and young for years. When you get older, compared to other people with dry skin, your skin will look much younger and healthier. Avoid using products which are aimed at drying up the natural oils in your skin. Instead of doing that, just take a neutral face wash for normal skin so that the excess oil is washed out. Once you do that get used to dapping some tissue or any kind of absorbant paper on the oily areas of your skin so that the excess oil is soaked.

Aloe vera gels makes for a good face wash and it usually helps balance the amount of oil your sebacious glands secrete.

Remember, oily skin is healthy skin. The oil from your skin will protect it from aging spots and ugly wrinkles.I just bought some neutrogena oil removing face wash but I don't want to loose the tan on my face?
It won't wash you natural tan off but if you get a spray tan, then it probably will. Your natural tan will just fade on its own.
If it has SPF in it you will lose your tan. If not your okay
if you have a natural tan, no.

if you have a spray tan or used some kind of tanning cream, yes.

Neutrogena oil-free acne wash doesn't work for for me. neither does clean and clear. what works best for you?

neutrogena really dries out my face, it burns while i'm washing, and makes my face really red. clean and clear daily face wash doesn't do anything. i can't find something that really works for me. so what works for you?Neutrogena oil-free acne wash doesn't work for for me. neither does clean and clear. what works best for you?
    I Saw a dermatologist, and i use neutrogena oil free acne wash daily scrub, and Dove soap works great . %26gt;_%26lt;

and...hmm..Yeah, i recomend seeing a derm if you really cant find anything, they give you free samples and all this information about soap, what not to use, and what brands that cause dryness and more acne.Like proactive for example. They say it works but, honestly... :X it just sucks.

Get Biore, and ';Mint Julep Masque'; http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid鈥?/a> it works soooo good and its so cheap! after i used it i could already feel my face being smoother,My face looked less red and looked a little clearer too!! just keep it on for 15 min. and wash it off with warm water. It also helps if you rub an ice cube on your face before bed.Ive heard that Heat can cause more acne, Hard to explain lol.But yeah. Good LuckNeutrogena oil-free acne wash doesn't work for for me. neither does clean and clear. what works best for you?
Maybe Noxema? I use a product from Avon mostly when I use products. My skin is very sensitive and dry so I honestly sometimes just use hot water and a face cloth...
proactiv solution is a miracle worker!!
biore blemish-fighting ice cleanser. it's the only thing that works on my face.
i use clean and clear black head control.

it actually makes my face squeaky clean (but since it doenst work for you i guess this doesnt rly help)

but once in a while when my face gets really bad

then i switch to proactiv or st. ives apricot scrub for a day or two, then go back to using my other stuff.

switching arond my face wash helps me

but dont use them all at once
I get a really red face after using face wash. I tried many products out there but didn't work. The only face wash that I can use is all natural ones like the one from the body shop, scentia and kosmea. I guess I'm allergic to some chemicals... mm
i go to my make up constult for mary kay its great the stuff is called volicty and it has a srub and then after that it has mostrizer and it works great it cleans my face up really good and if i know i have a big zit i put that on the night before i got to bed and when i wake up its gone! i love this stuff!

So my face gets oily i tryd everything from the little papers that take off oil to face wash to anything?

in the stores what can i do and i drink lots of water that dosent help itherSo my face gets oily i tryd everything from the little papers that take off oil to face wash to anything?
if your face is shiny you might have this deisease that casuees it. my friend has it and im not really sure what its called but you could have it.So my face gets oily i tryd everything from the little papers that take off oil to face wash to anything?
wash your face with a solution made up of 1 part fresh lemon juice, 3 parts water. do this 3 times a weak. the acidity of the lemon will dissolve the oil and give a matte finish. if you have sensitive skin use more water or less lemon juice.
    lol,

thats the same with me too. i think you might be like me. so try and not wear things like foundation as it blocks your pores, and then your pores produce more oils. those paper things ive got them. they dont work but they are good for on the spot. i think you should was your face with dove soap and as for moisturiser i wouldnt use anything too heavy. i think tht you should use something like baby moisturizer or nivea soft!

    hope i helped xx
It sounds like your skin is trying to over compensate for lack of moisture.

Do you moisturize at all? If not, your skin may actually produce more oil.

Also, what products are you using to wash your face? Dish soap is NOT the answer. And harsh cleansers are not either.

You need to use products that preserve the acid mantle on your face and that are ph correct. Also...look for something without animal by-products or mineral oil.

I personally recommend Arbonne, which I have been using for the past 2 years. My skin produces much less oil now because I am now giving my skin what it needs.

    Good luck!
With all the questions on here about what to do for severe skin conditions, the answer is so freakin obvious but to drill it in one more time, GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST as they will be a lot more help to you than people who don't DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO FIXING SKIN CONDITIONS
by proactiv solution there cheep and it will help your skin, good luck
Dish soap, not the powder stuff for dishwashers, but the bottle liquid stuff for handwashing dishes.
Wash your face twice a day with soap and avoid exfoliating more that 1 time a week. That can stimulate your skin to produce more oil. That's what I'd try anyway.
Try some home remedies...if you type it in google you will find a lot of different things.
applying moisturizer is the best thing you can do, though it may sound counter-productive. Buy an oil-control cleanser and moisturizer at the very least. a toner is also helpful, though maybe too much for a guy. most people with an oily complexion try to wash their face so much that the natural oils overcompensate and overproduce, making you even more oily. a moisurizer with help by reducing the need for your skin to do this.

Okay so when I had a hot oil treatment (alberto vo5) i warmed up a cup of water for about a minute then i left the hot oil treatment in the cup for a minute then i washed my hair then put the oil all over my hair waited for about a minute then i rinsed with warm water then i shampooedHow exactly do you do an Hot Oil Treatment? Do you wash n condition before or after?
Depending on the product. I've tried VO5 Hot Oil Treatment, and this is what I did.

Take a bath, I feel the steam/heat from the bath works it better. Your hair should be cleaned, with very mild conditioner.

Place the hot oil in a glass of very hot water (over a little time, it will get cooler). After about 10-15 mins, put it on your wet hair.

Wait a 15-20 mins (hence why you should take a nice warm bath and relax).

    Then rinse. All done!

If you're looking to get your hair soften or smoother, I find it much better to get deep conditioning at a salon, it usually costs 10 bucks, and it feels SO soft afterwards, and seem to work better for my hair.

    Good luck!

carefully, use dawn dish soap - only dawn is safe to use on birds.

Definitely Dawn Dish soap. Make sure you get the blue one that is marked original formula. It may take more than one washing. Very traumatic for a wild bird. Your best bet is is a wild life rehabber. Ask your local vet if you don't know one. They usually have a list of them.
most definitely Dawn dish soap. the only safe one to use.
What you should do immediately is take it to a vet that can properly remove the oil. It is extremely dangerous to the bird. Oil is very caustic to the skin.
use dawn dish soap, contact animal control or keep as pet

You really need to fight acne from the inside of your body. Acne and many other skin problems and problems in our bodies in general are cause by what are called free radicals. Free radical enter our bodies when we stress, eat greasy fast foods and take in pollutants through the air and water. Our bodies natural way of fighting these free radicals are called antioxidants. What I drink in order to keep my antioxidant levels up is called noni juice. Noni juice is very high in antioxidant levels and fights those free radicals that mess up your skin. After just a few weeks I could see my skin clearing up and I had more energy and even lost a little weight. Noni juice will heal your acne from the inside out and make it go away for good. I hope this info helps you. Take care.

I've been using Neutrogena oil free acne wash as the bottle indicates (twice a day) for around the last 4 days. I have gotten some sort of chemical burn from it and my face is red, swollen, raw, flakey and dry. It burns a lot, too.

my sister used to have less acne than i did - i used product and she just used ivory soap. then she got ONE breakout and she had a spaz and started using this wash, and i did what she did - except i used cetaphil cleanser instead of soap. now i have less acne than she does and she has prolonged red marks (my red marks fade quicker than hers, she has scars from pimples she had a while ago because of this cleanser) so overall i dont recommend it. i just saw the product and thought i'd give a heads up, sorry if i don't help answer the questionNeutrogena oil free acne wash has given me some sort of burn, help please?
It did the same thing to my face, It was around my mouth and chin that it occured on though, It wasnt all over my face. I stopped using it rite away! And constantly put lotion on it! Hope this Helps! :)
I'm using this too, actually. The burning you feel is probably due to the salicyc acid which is drying out your skin. What I did was switch to using it once a day (preferably in the evening) and using a mositurizer after. In the morning, wash your face with a gentle cream cleanser--your best bet would be the vitamin E cleanser from The Body Shop or something like it.

    Good luck!

Do you use a facial moisturizer right away after using Neutrogena oil-free acne wash?

Should you use one right away after using Neutrogena oil-free acne wash or should you wait a little while before using a moisturizer?Do you use a facial moisturizer right away after using Neutrogena oil-free acne wash?
You should do it right away. Make it a two step routine...wash, moisturize. It won't necessarily hurt anything to wait a little while, but why? You're already there in the bathroom, working on your face. Plus, you did just wash all the oil off your skin, and your face is going to start making more oils cause it's drier now. Did you know that acne can also be a result of your skin being too dry? What happens, is your skin is dry, so it starts producing more oils on its own, which can clog your pores and cause pimples. But, if you give your face enough moisture from somewhere else, it won't have to make so much oil. Plus, you're making sure that you're using a special moisturizes, called non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores. Right?Do you use a facial moisturizer right away after using Neutrogena oil-free acne wash?
If you have oily skin do not use a moisturiser. Oily skin even though it is a pain in the butt for us is actually the best skin to have as it takes longer to age.
I like to use it right after I wash my face and it's still a little moist and soft to help retain the moisture. I also like to use a toner before I moisturize to remover any excess facial cleanser and any remaining oils. It really wouldn't matter that much if you waited a while though. The important thing is just that you moisture your skin.

Does neutrogena oil-free acne wash pink grapefruit facial cleanser really work?

as of now im using regular bar soap to wash my face i dont really have major breakouts but i think i need a good face wash product

can someone tell me the pros and cons of this product and if it really works??

thankss ;]]Does neutrogena oil-free acne wash pink grapefruit facial cleanser really work?
NeuTrogena makes some of the best acne products in the business(in my opinion) i have used the original and it worked great for me when i found out about pink grapefruit i couldn't wait to try it out and it is working phenomenally I use the micro-beads scrub one

Pros- smells great, works, cleans without drying skin, refreshes and makes you feel awake due to micro beads and refreshing scent also the micro beads are also there to scrub away dead and dry skin

cons- not enough product!!! heheheDoes neutrogena oil-free acne wash pink grapefruit facial cleanser really work?
Personally this stuff worked HORRIBLY for me.

It mostly depends on what type of skin you have. I have a sensitive skin type and I wish I wouldnt have used that stuff.

It caused my skin to burn like crazy and after about my second time using it, it caused all of my skin to burn, dry and get flakey.

    Hope I helped =)
I haven't used the pink grapefruit one before, but i've been using neutrogena since forever. It's a product that I would recommend to anyone. I'd say go for it.
Yeah it does!! It feels really tingly and smells good, but if you want a great cleanser try using St. Ive's blackhead and blemish control! it works very well

I usually apply oil a night before hair wash. Can I oil my hair if I am using heat styling products?

I have dry hair and apply oil before washing my hair. I recently started heat straightening my hair. I use Tressemme heat defense and Schwarzkopf zero frizz corrective hair serum before heat styling. I wash my hair once in 3 days and would like your opinion on applying oil on hair that has heat styling products.I usually apply oil a night before hair wash. Can I oil my hair if I am using heat styling products?
applying oil the night before it's fine. If anything, the oil will actually protect your hair from heat damage.

Though I wouldnt apply oil right before using a iron, because the high heat and oil together is just not very safe.

What Neutrogena oil free ance wash should i use. I know there all the same but i want one that will clean.?

I want one that will clean really good which one should i use.

    The foam cleanser.?

    The orignial cleanser?

    The daily scrub?

    the mask?

the cleasing cloths? What Neutrogena oil free ance wash should i use. I know there all the same but i want one that will clean.?
Well, for daily use, you should use the original cleanser (it's orange). It has been recommended by dermatologists for a years because it removes the dirt on your face, doesn't clog pores and is very gentle.

You should use the scrub only once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells, but not every day because it can damage your skin badly, and the same happens with the mask.

    Hope it helped ;)

If you have very long hair like I have I'm interested to know how often you wash and oil it?

I am also interested to chat with other girls about what styles they wear there long hair in.If you have very long hair like I have I'm interested to know how often you wash and oil it?
I wash my hair everyday... I know it's bad for your hair, but I need to take a shower to wake me up in the morning (early college classes)

And, I have no idea what you mean by oil... But I do deep condition once every two weeks.

I usually wear my hair down (it's straight long choppy layers) or I'll just curl it! :)

    Hope this helps,

have a wonderful night,If you have very long hair like I have I'm interested to know how often you wash and oil it?
if you are a person of color, try a professional every three weeks. they can give you advice!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you can't afford it! try hair shows, they are always looking for models with long hair! this will give an ideal for your hair! for others, try some scissors! unless you are growing hair for a cancer patient, why do you need all that hair????????????
I shower daily but wash my hair every 3 this keeps fron stripping the natural oils also use a natural bore bristle brush. Deep condition once a week paying special attention to the ends.

I like to use a 1'; curling iron, take large sections 3'; or so of hair and heat until you can feal it comming through the hair do this until all your hair is curled. Shake it out with your fingers and spray with a flex hold hairspray. This will give you georgous beachy curls (think like Jessica Simpson in Dukes of hazard) and it holds for hours. I love this look for going out.

For everyday I usually do a bun or ponytail because I work in a machine shop.

p.s. its 3/4 of the way down my back
I wash it every other day, sometimes everyday depending on how oily it is. What do you mean by oiling it?

For styling, i usually straighten it and part my side swept bangs. It looks adorable if i say so myself. :)

I'm trying to volumize it at the crown to get that sophisticated yet sexy touch, but no luck.
I have long hair and I wash it everyday.I don't oil my hair. I use a conditioner every time I wash. Once a week, I deep condition my hair. I usually wear my hair in pony tails when I am busy.
i have very long hair.i wash it once very three days. i oil it every day, tie my hair in dif styles. i use only homemade remedies /shampoo/ mask. i make sure i dont put heat or artifical things on my hair. this way your hair grows very well.
one day yes one day no. sometimes one day yes two days no. i wear my hair down all the time, with waves, like the victoria secret girls, or straightened. people who tell you they wash their hair once every 4 or 5 days because they claim it needs ';natural oil'; to build up into it are just plain not hygienic. thats BS. wash it often or itll get damaged.
heeee. i have long hair...... i wash them after every 4 days...... i oil them before i wash them..... nd a little after i wash them..... about hair styles...... i do a long tail for simple visiting places..... in parties i do a pony..... or open my hair..... they look beutiful..... try it....
i wash it alternate days...............this way ur hair will be clean and shiny...............and oil it atleast once a week.....but this oiling should be proper champi.....u know wat i mean.....proper massage....take ur own time to do it...and pamper ur hair with oil.................and everytime u wash ur hair try to use a good suitable conditioner...

    u can iron sometimes.....curls....leave them open.....plat....
i wash it every other day..most of the time sometimes i just feel dirty tho so i end up washing it more than not washing it.
    2 weeks
i wash it everyday or 2 days. u can do all sorts of nice things to ur hair. with long hair you can style it with a curling iron etc. use a pin to pin sum hair up etc
i used to have really long hair and when i did i'd wash it every two days. i never oiled it though... styling it was so hard because my hair was so long. it was fine but i had a lot of hair so it was thick, although it didn't look thick at all. with long hair, i curled it but i wasn't very successful because it would fall out - plus, my hair was really stubborn and straight. i didn't know much back then so i didn't do much, but now that i've learned more about hair from experience, i wish i took advantage of my long, long hair. if i had long hair still, i'd put it in a bun - different kinds. it's hard to do it with shorter hair (which makes me sad). if you're able to curl long hair, it would look really nice. but it's so hard to do since it's so long. but overnight (foam) curlers was the most effortless thing for me to do to make my hair look nice (they worked so well). i hope i supplied you with at least some helpful information!
I have really long hair (waist length) and I wash it every three days; otherwise it would get dried out. I don't oil my hair, I lightly condition from the middle down once a week.

What is the best hand soap to wash off engine oil and grease?

Something that really works to clean this gunk out of your skin. What is the best hand soap to wash off engine oil and grease?
I work on cars during the week and help out repairing commercial class 6 sweeping equipment (20-26,000 pounds) and this stuff is messy.

I have tried damn near every possible hand cleaner you can think of. Lava, goop, gojo, zep orange, fast orange, boraxo, kresto etc etc.

None of these clean better than this stuff called Mean Green. You will probably have to order it online, you can not get it in a store. its expensive, but it is what we use at work and my hands look SPOTLESS. You would never know I work on diesel trucks.

Mean Green is the best soap we have found to date. After washing with mean green I use fast orange because it has a nice smell and it has aloe in it. We use this stuff called ';kresto'; at work as well. Its in a regular commerical wall dispenser and it is great for getting your hands clean enough to deal with customers, pull a car out or eat lunch, but at the end of the day I clean up with mean green before going home.

At home I have a ton of different stuff. The problem with goop/gojo is that, while they cut grease well, they dont have enough ';pumice'; in them to get into the crevices of your skin. Lava/fast orange are too liquidy. Actually, if you want to get away on the cheap, dawn and some regular sugar cleans pretty well. Dawn cuts grease and the sugar acts as a mild abrasive.

JimWhat is the best hand soap to wash off engine oil and grease?
Dishwashing detergent is one of the best grease cutting soaps available. However, most of the 'hand cleaners' sold in auto parts stores are very good grease/grime removers too.
For light grease and oil, I find dish soap works great. Yeah, plain ol' dish soap. It might make your hands feel a bit dry afterwards though.
if you are working with cars and you have transmission fluid handy wash your hands with it first and then any soap after that. trans. fluid has detergents that will get the worst grease off of you and washes off easily with any soap. Goop also works well and you can buy it at any parts store.
    Fast Orange works well.
    Go Joe.
    orange goop
    just one

Use brake cleaner........its so good to clean
There is always gojo orange but you have to scrub. The best thing I have found is Boyd's Ultra Violet hand cleaner. Also a cheap alternative is Ajax and dish detergent. Hope this helps.
We use Fast Orange %26amp; it seems to work the best - but I have also used SoftScrub w/ bleach... yes it's bleach but It works for that...
    Fast orange with pumice.
PREMATEX WITH LANOLIN, IT HAS A KEROSINE BASE AND WILL EVEN GET RID OF YOUR MOTHER IN-LAW IF NEEDED. BUY @ AUTO ZONE,MURRAY'S ETC,ETC.

How would you wash away your oil paints?

Okay, say you have oil paints and you have to wash your brush and anything else the paint got on. Is it safe to wash it in the sink? Or wash it down anywhere else? Or is it okay? Are there any chemicals? How would you get rid of it or wash it if there is?How would you wash away your oil paints?
Wet oil paint washes easily from brushes, hands, and fabric with any gentle soap, such as dish detergent or shampoo. Some artists like to clean the paint out of brushes with oil (vegetable oil or even cheap motor oil) and then wash the oil out with gentle soap. I have used oil and soap to wash brushes in my kitchen sink for over 40 years without any problems.

Some artists use turpentine to wash brushes. This is where the problems begin, because turpentine is caustic and dangerous. You should not breathe it. It can burn your skin. It will wear out your brushes faster than soap and/or oil (as described above). Turpentine has to be disposed of as any dangerous chemical, and not just thrown in the trash. How would you wash away your oil paints?
When you clean your brushes I find a dab of Murphys Cleaning product. It's like a semi-transparent yellow-ish liquid. And It is ammmaaaaazing for cleaning oil paints. I have never had a problem with cleaning them in the sink. But when leaning our brushes make sure to go with the direction of the bristles, if you pull them every which way they break :(. Also try not too use too hot water, if you do the glue melts holding the bristles in and it just destroys the brush. If there are high quality brushes, the most likely won't react to the heat as much.
hey ah... yeah...listen. why don't you do your self and the environment a favor and switch to acrylics...everything will be water-based...mean while clean everything up with some paint thinner (mineral spirits) and give it a brake...if I have to use oils I keep the waste to a minimum, and whatever I have, I use it to keep sidewalks trimmed by pouring it along the edges.. this will weaken your concrete in time...but then there's always a price to pay...

follow up with a facial moisturizer. I use the same stuff, neutrogena oil free acne wash, and it dries my face out terribly if I don't use a moisturizer afterwards.

I like the clean feeling I get from the neutrogena soap, although I can't stand dry skin afterwards, so I just replace the natural oils with the oils in a facial lotion. It makes my skin clean and moisturized. Is there a way to use the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne wash without it drying your skin out?
Follow it up with an oil free moisturizer. If it keeps happening switch to another brand like Clean and Clear for sensitive skin. If you live in a winter state, that's a double whammy - winter weather is hard on skin. Good luck!
ughhh i steam my face with water and coconut oil to add extra oil to my skin before i use that stuff.... it is really drying its not just you... i dont know what to tell you... the stuff sucks (but the grapefruit kind smells good)

I started to use clean and clear oil free acne wash and now my face is really oily and breaking out?

my face usually doesn't break out a lot but i started using clean and clear and its oily and blotchy and more acne than normal. I use clean and clear every morning and before i go to bed. After i use it i put some lotion (not face lotion normal lotion) on my face (cuz my face is dry). IDK WAT TO DO to get rid of my problem. HELP ME PLEEZ!I started to use clean and clear oil free acne wash and now my face is really oily and breaking out?
The moisturizer is probably your biggest problem. the moisturizer is putting too much oil into your skin. Look for a moisturizer that is for your FACE not just a lotion.

Those cleansers with the rocks and sand like things in them are to help take off the dry excess skin on the top layer of your skin.. but also by using a cleanser like that you're opening up your pores and letter MORE dirt get into them because you're leaving them open.. get a toner.. clean and clear has toners too but that will help snap your pores back shut after you use your cleanser.. good luck!I started to use clean and clear oil free acne wash and now my face is really oily and breaking out?
i hear pro-active works, but only from the commercials. but they've been around for a long time now. if i had acne i would definitely try them

oooh, u know, when i was younger i had it and when i started using regular ol skin cream it helped. got it from the family dollar for like $1.50 or $2.00 in a blue jar but it worked better than any of that name brand stuff. so get some regular white skin cream or face cream.

i used neutrogena and it like burnt my skin, made it really tight, itchy, irritated, dry and turned large spots on my face dark and was tender and sore, so watch out for some of the name brand stuff

    i think anti-acne makeup/foundation helps too
Switch to a different face wash. I used to use clean and clear and I would always break out, I guess it wasn't very compatible with my skin type, anyways I switched to nivea and my skin is good again.
why not use clean and clear as it is, i mean wash your face then use it. dont put any lotion cause it might react to components the cleanser has..

for acne cure try natural stuff..

check my blog where to get it.

Stop using lotion obviously... it's clogging your pores. How could you be so oblivious to what's causing it? Buy a moisturizer made for the FACE ;)

How to wash out the oil paint from the brush?

Is there some chemical to wash it out, or soap and water is the best way?How to wash out the oil paint from the brush?
You clean oil paint brushes by first wiping the paint out of them with a rag and turpentine, odorless turpenoid, or Livos solvent, you have to use small amounts of these because it is illegal in most places to rinse them down the drain, as they are highly pollutant. You can then rub soap into the bristles and rinse with water. Oil rags have to be disposed of in metal containers because they are highly flamable. How to wash out the oil paint from the brush?
The best method I know of: Wipe the brush well with paper towel or rag. Wash with paint thinner. Then use waterless hand cleaner (like mechanics use only without pumice, as that will wear out your brushes ) Then rinse with water. The hand cleaner emulsifies the paint and makes it water soluble. This cleans the paint out of the heel of the brush, where if it dries the brush is ruined. This REALLY WORKS WELL.
turpentine or linseed oil. There is also some eco friendly oil brush cleaners. Check your local hobby shop.
Turpentine, then when the paint is gone, soap and water, rinse, then dry before using the brush again.

If you are going to be using it straight away, just use the turpentine.
    Maybe WD-40.
Well I usually use baby oil/canola oil to remove excess oil from my brush...i alos put oil on my brush and then i use soap and then water. Well that's what my art teacher taught up in my oil painting class.
The best way to clean your brushes without damaging them is:

Wipe off excess paint with paper towel.

Clean with turpentine or mineral spirits. Best stuff to use is odorless turpenoid sold in all art stores. Other option is to clean it with Phelps Naphta soap, works wonders, I had a jacket that had dried oil paint on it, my wife rubbged some wet soap on it , threw it in the washer. Now it is clean as new.

Put some soap on the brushes to form them if you are not going to use them right away, hand soap might work too.

    Leave them till next use.
    Turpentine or ';White Spirit';.
A premium paint thinner is Mineral Spirits. The odorless kind. Wipe off excess paint from your brush first. Swish your brush in a small, disposable container, apply soap in your hand and wash your brush in the palm of your hand. Rinse well. Shape your brushes and let air dry.

Acetone is harsh on brushes and water nor vinegar will work on oils. You can buy paint thinners at an art supply store, but they are expensive. Odorless Mineral Spirits can be purchased at any hardware store.. Happy painting!
    Paint Thinner works pretty well.
It does'nt worth the cost of that.

You may but a new brush at that expense.

But some can be washed by warm water, just be careful not to pay 50 times the price of a brush to your plumber if you do that the wrong way.
    Solvent is turpentine or Varsol.
You could try turpentine if you have any, or vinegar might work.
No. Do not use soap and water for oil paint, it simply will not work. Soap and water is the worst way. You need to use paint thinner or mineral spirits. In a pinch you can also use acetone. Vinegar will not work either, don't even think about it. Normal vinegar you but from the store is 95% water.

For oil paint you need mineral spirits aka paint thinnner, turpentine, and acetone will work as well.

Has anyone experienced dry and itchy skin when using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Wash?

So I got some new skin medication because my old one did not help against my blackheads. Anyways, I got that new pink grapefruit foaming wash from the commercials. I used to use Acne Stress control cream wash from Neutrogena. Now my skin (particularly in the chin area) is very dry and itchy. Has anyone else had this problem? What should I use for skin medication? And what moisturizer should I use for my dry skin? :( Please help me!!!! Has anyone experienced dry and itchy skin when using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Wash?
Actually, I just stared using it yesterday. My skin didn't itchy or get irritated. If anything, it's kind of working. If you read the back of the bottle, it says that irritation or dry skin may occur. Maybe your skin is really sensitive to the soap. :] But if the dryness and irritation continues to occur, stop using the soap. D: You don't want your face to get worst. ; w;Has anyone experienced dry and itchy skin when using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Wash?
I Had the same thing happen and I normally use the Blue stuff that is the alternative to the pink grapefruit.. I have littl tiny red bumps and dry skin and it is tingly and it burns too.. I actually put some cortizone cream, not ointment yuk, and it is working to clear it up Report Abuse

    hmmm

I tried everything on my face and nothing really worked..then

    I found something really cool

You can buy it from all pharmacies...

THE SEBAMED TEENAGE SET!!!... There is the foam which you apply on your face so that you dont get any more pimples...then there is the tonic which clears black heads (it takes like two weeks before you can notice the effect) and there is the small cream that you apply on your current pimples so that it dries them...ITS GREAT

But financial wise if you cant buy those then just buy the sebamed soap...its better than nothing,,,(people told me that the soap helps a lot too..but I have never really used it)

    Good luck

    take care

My recommendation is not to use stuff with citric acid. That'll dry out anyone's skin. I highly recommend the apricot scrub. Even the store brand works for me. And with my picky skin I use Mary Kay's Timewise. It's the only moisturizer I've found that doesn't make me break out. And I even live in a dry climate.

    dru ski...hun
This product is only good for badly acne prone skin.

I used it several years ago because I would get very mild breakouts and thought it would clear it up.

The cleanser burnt my skin patchy red.

The Neutrogena help line told me that it should only be used on ACNE PRONE skin.... not just for breakouts.

I really wouldn't recommend it unless you have very bad skin.
it's for oily skin types ONLY! It's very very drying, so I don't recommend it if you have dry/normal skin. No, it doesn't help your acne.. it made me breakout worse. I heard most of neutrogena products work, just not the oil-free acne face wash. Wayy too drying and makes your skin really itchy.

After my skin is clear should I continue to use it to prevent new break outs? Will washing twice a day with Neutrogena oil free acne wash clear my break outs?
I would certainly continue the regimen if it works. If it doesn't, you might want to talk to your doctor about a low-dose birth control pill; something like Ortho Tri-Cyclen or Yazmin can be very helpful for women in clearing up acne. Will washing twice a day with Neutrogena oil free acne wash clear my break outs?
Neutrogena and other very inexpensive over the counter face washes will eventually ruin your skin. The products they use to make them aren't high quality. You should probably buy something that's better quality than Neutrogena.

I used Neutrogena for a while and it never worked for me. I find it's worthwhile to pay a bit more now and the better products have worked.

If you have bad skin problems, ask your doctor to prescribe something like spironolactone. They're pills but really work quickly and well.

Try the ';unblemish'; regimen - it definitely works. I see people all the time with acne and want to tell them about this skin care line I rep, but usually don't want to go up to them directly for fear of embarrassment (on both parts)...but I KNOW it works! I've seen results from family and friends.

give it a try...you will not be disappointed and if it doesn't work there is a money back guarantee - but I know you won't need to send it back. It's made by the same two dermatologists that started Proactiv...

When using the entire regimen, you will receive 5% benzoyl peroxide. 2.5% is the maximum allowed in over-the-counter products.

Good luck!Does Neutrogena oil-free acne wash foaming cleanser work?
I've tried it once or twice and it does work. The best thing for me that I've actually learned is to keep using it to its gone. I would try something with benzonyl peroxide in it but not too much because that will get your skin really red and often takes days for the regualr skin complexion to come back. But you may use it and if you have any pimples put a slight amount up there before you go to bed and let it work overnight. If its a small pimple you may see in the morning its gone but if its huge you may see a decrease in the size alot. Hey! Thats better than nothing. These are good tips and try them. I'm not a dermatologist but I've been through enough situations to tell you.
The combination of Tea Tree Oil soap and the Clindamycin cream is the best for Acne and pimple. These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too.

How fast does the Neutrogena oil-free acne wash work?

Most of these types of washes and scrubs are pretty potent in that you can FEEL them working right away. Your skin will begin to tingle and may even burn if you leave it on for too long (depending on how sensitive your skin is). I've used this prod. before, and I actually NOTICED results in my skin a few weeks after I started using it / when the bottle was starting to empty out.

If you鈥檙e looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne鈥?prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it鈥檚 advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

I've tried so many cleansers and none of them gave me the result that i needed.

but this, it's worth every penny!

I had mild pimples on my forehead area and my chin and when i started using this, the first week, i've noticed the difference.

    I didn't breakout out,

    UNTIL, i ate peanuts.

couple days later after i ate some, i had a pimple growing on my forehead, but i scrubbed it off with neutrogena pink grapefruit and now its gone.!

well yeah i like this cleanser, it works for me.

Can I used a garnier toner after my neutrogena oil free facial wash/ make up remover?

If I used a garnier toner after a Neutrogena products will my skin will be ok... or it is better not to used something from different company together? Can I used a garnier toner after my neutrogena oil free facial wash/ make up remover?
It doesn't matter if you mix brands, HOWEVER, you should never double up on products with acne medication in them unless they come together.

If you use a Neutrogena that has strong acne fighting chemicals in it and then follow it up with a garnier toner that also has those chemicals it will overdry your face once you wash it, causing your skin to produce MORE oil - and then you'll break out like crazy. And have chemically burnt skin.

So yes to mixing products - no to doubling up on extra benzoil peroxide, salycylic acid, etc...Can I used a garnier toner after my neutrogena oil free facial wash/ make up remover?
No it does not matter which of the companies you use. Just be careful to watch for the chemicals in the products.

If you use to much acne fighting medicine than your skin can break out worse or dry out and flake. Its best to use the same company because there is a formula to their products.

There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.

It was even televised on TV.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It has been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up ';best acne solution ever'; on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can buy the whole container for $160

It's expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

    I hope this helps. =)

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

I have naturally moist skin (thank god) so when I use nuetrogena oil free acne wash it works great, but I can see how someone with dry skin might not want to use it. It is a little drying. However, it does work wonders on my acne/dirt/oil!

Try clearisil ultra daily face wash/scrub and do it in the shower. Works very very well. For me, at least.Does Neutragena oil free acne wash prevent acne and get rid of it?
i would try a low % benzoyl peroxide product. you can ask your pharmacist for a 2% BPO that does not require a prescription. use this once a day to treat zits. if your skin is very dry, try a non-comedogenic (doesn't cause pimples) lotion like cetaphil.

also, many forehead acne cases are caused by hair products. do you use them? you might try to go w/o them for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. ingredients in these hair products clog pores when your hair touches your forehead.

another option is a salicylic acid wash (like Sal-Ac). ask your pharmacist if they have this. this will get rid of pimples also %26amp; not fade clothing like BPO.

    good luck!
Me too (about the twelve part). And I've tried it, and it made my skin really dry. It doesn't really work on my skin. I've been using Proactiv, and it's amazing. It'll get rid of those in no time. Also, my friend uses Clean and Clear, and she likes it.

How long does it take for tea tree oil facial wash for acne to work?

all tea tree oil products work but like most natural remedies they take awhile .if you get just the oil you can add a few drops to your bath water. How long does it take for tea tree oil facial wash for acne to work?
It's not a miracle pimple remover in a bottle, if that's what you were hoping for. It can't remove pimples that are already present, it works to help prevent more from being made. Those you already have will have to form a whitehead and drain themselves. The facial wash will help kill the bacteria and prevent it spreading to new spots. You can only keep your face clean, keep your hands off it, and wait. Tea tree oil, the pure oil, is helpful to spots in the very beginning. Then a tiny drop on the spot can sometimes prevent one from happening. But once a spot is underway, only your body can take care of it. Your facial wash is a good idea, and it will help avoid new spots. But it will take a few weeks to really see any significant difference. Even so, unless you keep your hands off your face and leave the current spots alone, it can't do much at all.

if u just started using it, use it one time a day (at night, so ur skin can heal if it does irritate it) and if it dosent make ur skin burn or hurt, start using it in the morning too.

Is tea tree oil facial wash suppose to make my face worst before it gets better?

It depends on what it is doing. Tea tree can at first bring out the impurites in your skin, but it is also a natural healing agent and will start healing once the impurities are gone. I do this for a living and its common for all the blemishes to come to the surface. If it seems like a rash of some sort, you could be having a reaction to it. Only cleanse twice a day! Good luck!Is tea tree oil facial wash suppose to make my face worst before it gets better?
Hi it can the levels of the ph is obviously too harsh for your skin, just wash you skin in warm salty water for 3 x per day, and pat dry use moisturiser, no oily ones, and you should be fine, as salt is natural, where as tea tree oil is oily and has the highest amount of chemicals in it.

    Good Luck.

  • Have you seen the DAWN soap commercials where they wash oil off birds???

At first I thought wow thats nice.( saving birds from oil spills). but then I noticed the film of them washing a duck and later a mom penguin were ';simulated'; so I realized they were torturing some innocent animal all to make a commercial.... then I looked into it more and realized DAWN is made by Proctor %26amp; Gamble... the company most notorios with cruel animal testing (and also the company responsible for the lower quality of IAMS and EUKANUBA foods since they bought these foods out years ago)...

Proctor and Gamble are synonomous with crueltly.. did anyone else see these commercials and what were your thoughts???Have you seen the DAWN soap commercials where they wash oil off birds???
Advertising of all kinds, especially commercials, are faked all over the place. The real job of cleaning those poor animals is messy and done by real people, not actors, and a scene like that does not make a pretty commercial. The people who shoot these things, like with any other Hollywood material, are only interested in the final product. This is why ASPCA people are on every set that includes animals. I doubt that giving that animal a bath caused it any harm. What is annoying to me is that Dawn probably paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the gig of cleaning the birds so they could use it in their commericals. It is product placement. This way, when the cleaning is over, they can make it look like the animal professionals chose their product because it was the best - not because someone in a suit who is far removed from the scene took those dollars and told them to use it. That is what I thought of it. That people will be duped again by those who are very slick. Television is the opiate of the masses and I am so glad to see that someone out there is aware and speaking up.Have you seen the DAWN soap commercials where they wash oil off birds???
Yes, I have also seen the Dawn adds, it is sad that they use innocent animals to try to get a point across. Since when do Animals and Dish soap even makes SENSE ?? Report Abuse

Unfortunately, your research has misled you. Scientists have chosen to use DAWN for many years now because it is the best product to use on animals when they become oiled. It is the most effective grease cutting product on the market that is gentle enough to be used on the animals. Report Abuse

And, what's wrong with trying to promote a good thing? Have you checked out their website recently? It is doing a great job at promoting conservation, and I want to buy products that promote conservation. It's better than supporting those that take all the money and run. Report Abuse

It's wonderful that they're trying to save animals. The Government wouldn't allow a commercial to be made about saving animals when the makers of the commercial torture animals. Sorry honey, but you are WRONG. Your idea is not possible. Report Abuse

That is cruel and I never knew that they did that I am so glad you posted that I used to buy DAWN but now I am switching since I know that.
I saw the commercial, but I didn't think anything about it. I'll look more carefully next time.
I saw it, and at first bothered me a little about the baby penguin, but don't remember a duck involved...theres bad and good to animal study, just as for human studies, but at least humans have a little say in the matter..

How often does one need to thoroughly wash their oil paint brushes?

Between using turps and washing properly with soap %26amp; water?

After every painting session? Once a day? Or can they go a few days without a proper soap %26amp; water wash but being swooshed well in turps? How often does one need to thoroughly wash their oil paint brushes?
I actually don't use turpentine in my oil paintings. It causes cracks in the dried paint over time. It also melts plastic, which I find a little frightening.

TLDR: turpentine is scary. Mineral spirits are cheap, safer, and can be used to get most if not all of the paint off the brush. Soap isn't particularly necessary. Washing only after painting sessions is enough.

I use mineral spirits to initially clean my brushes, like when changing colours and to get most of the paint off. It's easier on the nose and safer than turpentine. It also comes pretty cheap in large cans at home improvement stores. Just don't wash it down the sink - it may clog your pipes. When I'm done with a painting session, if I'm not lazy, I'll wash my brush with soap after getting most of the paint off with the mineral spirits. But really, as long as you wash the bristles with the mineral spirits, the brush should be fine without soap. And you only need to wash the brushes after painting sessions, unless they somehow manage to get paint on them when you're not using them.

I could go into the chemistry of this since we just covered it in my chemistry class, but that would just be over the top.How often does one need to thoroughly wash their oil paint brushes?
Terpentine will clean any oil paint covered brush quickly! i clean it after every session. but depending of the quality of the paint you could go a couple days or a week. if the paint is real oilly. any longer your brush is ruined. but some times it works to get that stuff that gets old drie paint out of the brush. to get oil paint out of clothes there is a secret that should be reveled : dish washer soap.
well, I guess it depends on how you work, on whether or not you're done with a particular colour/tone and whether or not you're lazy...As for me, I don't do it often...a tip I picked up from Marlene Dumas...And to be honest it makes for more interesting paintings...
Well I get lazy and just use turpentine which isn't super good for my brushes. I would say if you don't want them to get hard as fast to use soap and water after every painting session.

    Hope this helps :)
Most artists grow quite fond of their brushes and use their favorite ones as often as they can. That said, we should take the best care we can of our best brushes to make them last for years.
